Call of the Wild Soothes the Savage Worker
1. Call of the Wild Soothes the Savage Worker
Researchers at the University of Michigan have found that exposure
to a natural environment boosts cognitive performance, improves
working memory, decreases stress levels, reduces levels of anxiety
and anger, and improves job satisfaction. Even just looking at
photos of nature helps, so if you can’t get out to a park, I guess
you better think about bringing Mother Nature to you. An aquarium,
a terrarium, plants, photos of nature, or, heck, maybe a petting
zoo in Bob’s office might be just what the productivity doctor
ordered.

2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip
If you have serious messages you want your employees or customers
to stop and read, then try placing funny cartoons or humorous
attention-getting posters next to the serious messages. People
are far more likely to stop for the humor, then read the serious
messages.

“Humor loosens up the mental gears and encourages out-of-the-
ordinary ways of looking at things.” Peter Doskoch

4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky, World
As seen on a sign on an African wildlife safari:
“ELEPHANTS PLEASE STAY IN YOUR CAR.”
