1. Don’t Get Mad, Get Silly 

Today, the U.S. celebrates a little known day called 
National Crazy Day – a day that encourages offices to get a 
little silly. Of course, one of the best ways to de-stress is 
to get downright silly, if even for just a moment or two. 
Here are a few silly things you can try out the next time 
you’re feeling overwhelmed: 
- page yourself on the intercom 
- skip to your next meeting 
- do your own version of the “fun dance” 
- each time someone asks you to do something, 
reply with a hearty, “Would you like fries with that?” 
- wear your tie around your forehead 
- phone a colleague and tell them “you’re too busy to talk
to right now”, then hang up 
- do your best impersonation of a gecko 
- belt out (with feeling) a rousing rendition of “Feelings”
- pretend to phone your dog or cat, and talk to your pet in a 
voice loud enough that coworkers will hear you 
- start croaking (you know, like a frog) 
- grab a coworker and toss an imaginary energy ball back and
forth down the hallway   

Incidentally, if you have any silly rituals or silly things you’ve 
done (maybe even not on purpose) please pass them along (I won’t
use any names!).

2. Mike's Fun at Work Tip  

If you’re trying to solicit ideas from your teammates about
what motivates them, how to have more fun, what’s working and
what’s not working at work, and they just stare at you like
you’re a four-headed alien, then try sitting down with 
your boss/employees/teammates one-on-one in a casual, relaxed
setting away from work. Many people are reluctant to 
speak up in meeting situations, for a variety of reasons, 
and are often more willing to share their ideas and be open
and honest one on one.

4. It's a Wacky, Wacky, World  

A warning label on a wheelbarrow: “WARNING: Do Not Use When
Temperature Exceeds 140 Degrees Fahrenheit.” (I’m thinking
that once it’s that hot, you’ve got bigger issues to contend 
with than whether or not to use a wheelbarrow.)
