Fun At Work in Action Another great example of fun at work was sent my way. The supervisors at a Cooperators Auto Claims call centre recently threw an employee appreciation day. Employees were treated to breakfast, lunch, and even cookies and chocolate milk. There were opportunities for massages, a “match the employee to the photo from grade school” contest, caricatures on a “wall of shame” and a “decorate your office” event. And even though they created an exceptionally fun day for all, the folks at the very busy call centre still managed to get their work done as productively as ever! =============================================================== 2. Mike's Fun at Work Tip Create a “celebrations calendar” for your office, where you can highlight and keep track of any special events, holidays and employees’ (or key clients) birthdays. And if you set it up electronically, create reminders of significant dates two weeks prior to the actual date so folks aren’t scrambling to find that perfect birthday card on the afternoon of the big event. ================================================================ 3. Quote of the Week “The most wasted day of all is that in which we have not laughed.” Sebastian R.N. Chamfort ================================================================ 4. It's a Wacky, Wacky, World Here’s a new humor term for you: “joke-jacking.” Joke-jacking is stealing another comedian’s jokes, and of course is considered a big no-no low form in the world of comedy. (And if it’s stealing another joke about high-jacking by a comedian named Jack, it’s called Jack-high-jack-joke-jacking.) Happy Hump day folks. Remember to laugh at yourselves or others will volunteer to do it for you! ================================================================== Copyright Michael Kerr, 2007. mike@mikekerr.com www.mikekerr.com
