A Laugh a Day Keeps the Grim Reaper Away? According to a medical study by Sven Svebak, adults who have a good sense of humour outlive folks that don’t find life very funny. Svebak tracked 54,000 Norwegians over seven years, and his findings suggested that the greater the role humor played in their lives, the more likely the people were to have survived the seven years! ================================================================ 2. Mike's Fun at Work Tip If you are fortunate enough to have the choice between rewarding employees with a cash bonus or a gift, you may want to opt for the gift. Surveys suggest that although employees beforehand say they'd prefer the cash, people often end up spending it on boring stuff they feel they need to, whereas they tend to enjoy a gift completely guilt-free. So employees who are given gifts report feeling happier afterwards than the cash recipients. (If you'd prefer the cash, please don't write me an angry letter, I'm just reporting the facts. ================================================================ 3. Quote of the Week “When something is really bad, you laugh, and when something is really good, you laugh.” Rwanda saying ================================================================= 4. It's a Wacky, Wacky, World If you’ve ever wondered how stressed out your dog or cat is (and really, who could blame them for being stressed with everything they have to do all day), you can now purchase a stress patch that you stick to the bottom of your pet’s paw. The patch then changes color depending on how much Fido is sweating. Happy Hump Day one and all. And please, don’t sweat work too much, life is rrrrruff enough as it is. ================================================================== Copyright Michael Kerr, 2007. mike@mikekerr.com www.mikekerr.com
