1. Stress Parties Not Just for Dogs 	

Here’s something we could all learn to do: Dr. Kim Langholz, 
a veterinarian from Iowa State, suggests you throw “thunderstorm” 
parties for storm-phobic doggies, so that they have SO much fun 
each time a storm blows over they grow to look forward to the 
thunderstorms. 

Could the same trick work with humans? Why not? How about a 
“Tax Time” shindig, “Year-End-Paperwork” bash, “Fourth 
Quarterly Report” luncheon, or “Oh-Great-Our-Team-Gets-Stuck-
With-Bob-Again” blowout!  (As always, my apologies to
anyone named Bob.)

Create a ritual or reminder at home before you’ve even left 
for work to help you chart your attitudinal course for the day:
something to remind yourself of the old cliché that you really 
do have the power to choose your attitude and the power to choose
to have a sense of humor about your work and life. Some 
psychologists believe the first hour of the day is the most 
important for “setting” our attitude for the rest of the day,
so it’s important to put your best humor forward. Maybe it’s a 
slogan, a goofy photo you post on the fridge, a mascot, or
a funny naked dance – just do or create something that can serve 
as a reminder of the message.

In order to hire just the right staff, Russian businesses are 
increasingly using the “stressovoye technique” when conducting 
interviews. Hurling insults, shouting at the candidates, and 
throwing a glass of water in candidates’ faces are evidently the 
latest and greatest ways to uncover a person’s true character.
