The Hump Day Humor-Gram, October 25, 2006 Issue Number 193 1. How to Get Voted Off Your Island 2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip 3. Quote of the Week 4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky World =============================================================== 1. How to Get Voted Off Your Island If you want to create a truly inspiring, fun workplace, then it helps to identify some behaviors that may be contributing to a less-than-oh-so-happy workplace. A poll conducted by 72 Point found that these were the most annoying office personalities: 29% voted for the Brown Noser, 18% for “The No. 1” (the person who always has done something better than you), 15% for the Corporate Speaker (“Mr./Ms. Buzzword”), 13.5% for the Blagger (a serial sick-day taker), 8% for the Clock Watcher, 6% for the Social Secretary, 3% for the Office Letch (only 3%??). And if you combine any three or more of the above-mentioned traits, you pretty much get voted off the island. ================================================================ 2. Mike's Fun at Work Tip October 27th is “Cranky Co-Worker” Day, a day designed to, um, I don’t actually know. But here’s a thought, why not combine “Cranky Co-Worker Day” with a Halloween related theme, and do what a bank in the U.S. does once a year: have a “dress your co-worker day.” That’s right, you get to dress a randomly drawn co-worker however you wish (within some agreed upon limits) for the day. ================================================================= 3. Quote of the Week “Comedy is a way of thinking about the world. When you stop laughing, comedy really does make you think.” Ejner Jensen ================================================================= 4. It's a Wacky, Wacky World According to a survey, 88% of women said there is at least one quality they see in their dog that they’d also like to see in their men. And 34% said that if their dog were actually were a man, then he would be their boyfriend! This also ties nicely into a survey that suggested that 50% of employees would rather work for their dog than for their boss. (I’m not even sure what that means.) Happy Hump Day everyone. Keep laughing. ================================================================= Copyright Michael Kerr, 2006 mailto:mike@mikekerr.com Reach Michael at 1-866-609-2640, http://www.MikeKerr.com.
