The Hump Day Humor-Gram, September 20, 2006 Issue Number 188 1. Create Your Own Funnies 2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip 3. Quote of the Week 4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky World ========================================================== 1. Create Your Own Funnies Turn a stressful situation into an imaginary cartoon strip or write imaginary thought bubbles floating above everyone’s head. “Cartooning” (e.g. imagine that jack ass of a driver as an actual jack ass) has proven to not only be a great stress reducer, it’s also an effective way to tap into your creative side, since thinking in pictures activates a different part our brains. ========================================================= 2. Mike's Fun at Work Tip Having trouble finding something to name honored employees after? Cable & Wireless Optus in Sydney, Australia held a lottery to name floors in their building after staff members. The winning employee gets the floor “named” for them, as well as a plaque and photo display on “their” floor. But if you work somewhere where you don’t have any floors, don’t be floored – just get creative. I’ve seen companies name cafeteria dishes, work projects, and even hallways after employees! And heck, if that doesn’t work, you can always try the idea of giving each employee their own special day once a year–a “holiday” named in their honor. ========================================================= 3. Quote of the Week “We’re all amateurs, it’s just that some of us are more professional about it than others.” George Carlin ========================================================== 4. It's a Wacky, Wacky World As reported in the morbidly fascinating bathroom book, “Idiots at Work,” the Ontario Federation of Labor in Kitchener, Ontario once installed a “Bad Boss” hotline. Sadly, the system very quickly crashed because of too many incoming phone calls! Hmmmmmm. I wonder what the message is? Happy Hump Day everyone. Remember to make the person in the mirror laugh at least once today. ========================================================== Copyright Michael Kerr, 2006 mailto:mike@mikekerr.com Reach Michael at 1-866-609-2640, http://www.MikeKerr.com.
