It's a Wacky, Wacky World ========================================================== 2. Seinfeld Lowers Blood Pressure – What’s Up With That? Did you hear the one about how watching comedy can lower your nerves? Researcher Edward O’Brien from the Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania discovered that college students who watch Seinfeld before public speaking had heartbeats between 80-85 beats per minute; while those that didn’t watch the comedy experienced an average of 100 beats per minute while they spoke. And if it applies to speaking in public, how about using humor to calm our nerves before an important business meeting, job interview or before performing brain surgery (for those brain surgeon enthusiasts out there)? ========================================================== 2. Mike's Fun at Work Tip Traffic cops in India are handing out roses to traffic violators instead of tickets, in the hopes that a little education and a fun, positive reminder will be more effective at reducing minor traffic violations. So why not apply this principle to the workplace, and offer some fun rewards in the spirit of educating folks in a positive way to bring about some changes for minor “office violations.” ========================================================= 3. Quote of the Week “Strange, when you come to think of it, that of all the countless folks who have lived before our time on the planet not one is known in history or in legend to have died of laughter.” Sir Max Beerbohm ========================================================== 4. It's a Wacky, Wacky World An 82-year-old woman in Los Angeles was fined $114 for for walking too slowly across a crosswalk!!! Happy Hump Day everyone. And please, watch your speed limit! ======================================================== Copyright Michael Kerr, 2006 mailto:mike@mikekerr.com Reach Michael at 1-866-609-2640, http://www.MikeKerr.com.
