The Hump Day Humor-Gram, March 15, 2006, Issue Number 167 1. The Smile Transfer Protocol Program 2. Mike's Fun at Work Tip 3. Quote of the Week 4. It's a Wacky, Wacky World ========================================================== 1. The Smile Transfer Protocol Program Barry Williams, who “humorized” the operation of Barney’s Motel in Brandon Manitoba, is back at it again. Barry has created a ”Smile Transfer Protocol” program for his employees at his new workplace. The program is so simple, yet it has proven to be remarkably effective. The STP program simply encourages employees to record the number of times each day they are able to “transfer” a smile from themselves to a customer, simply by smiling themselves and saying hello. Barry says this simple program has caused morale to soar amongst his employees. And to encourage and reward their efforts, he offered a prize to whoever could generate the most smiles at the end of the first week. Barry loves it because it’s measurable, it’s having an impact on both employees and customers, and it goes to the heart of great service, which is not JUST smiling blindly at the customer, but rather getting the customer to smile at you! ========================================================== 2. Mike's Fun at Work Tip I’m giving you plenty of notice so you have no excuse: March 26 is “Make Up Your Own Holiday” day. So why don’t you bump it on over to Monday this year, so folks can have a fun day at work, or heck, since it’s a holiday, be given the day off for good behavior. All you need to do is think up what the name of the holiday will be, or hold a contest at your workplace to see who can devise the best “made-up” holiday! ========================================================= 3. Deep Thought of the Week “The most precious thing we have is life. Yet it has no trade-in value.” ========================================================== 4. It's a Wacky, Wacky World A box of highly graphic X-rated fortune cookies (who knew?) accidentally got delivered to a Brooklyn politician’s fundraising event, raising more than a few eyebrows from the stunned guests! Happy Hump Day everyone. I hope all your fortunes are happy ones. ======================================================== Copyright Michael Kerr, 2006 mailto:mike@mikekerr.com Reach Michael at 1-866-609-2640/http://www.MikeKerr.com.
