The Hump Day Humor-Gram, March 8, 2006, Issue Number 166 “The Early Edition” (Just to confuse you into thinking that hump day came one day earlier this week!) 1. It Could Have Been Worse! 2. Mike's Fun at Work Tip 3. Quote of the Week 4. It's a Wacky, Wacky World ========================================================== 1. It Could Have Been Worse We’ve spoken often here at the Hump Day about how humor can help us reframe our stressors, by getting us to tap into our funny bones by imagining how things could have been a LOT worse. In light of the recent Olympics, it’s interesting to note how a study on happiness shows that bronze medalists tend to be much happier and more satisfied with their performance than silver medalists! Why? Because silver medalists tend to look at the glass half empty, focusing on how they came just a hair from getting the coveted gold, while bronze medalists tend to practice the old “it could have been worse routine” and therefore are grateful to have just made it onto the podium! ========================================================== 2. Mike's Fun at Work Tip Alberta-based WestJet Airlines recently celebrated their 10th anniversary by giving customers a $25.00 credit on a future flight and celebrating publicly with a huge cake – a great reminder that if you want to have fun and get some free press to boot, think of fun ways you can include your customers in your celebrations. ========================================================= 3. Quote of the Week “The essence of creativity is not some special talent, it is much more the ability to play. We unblock creativity by getting past the fear of making a mistake.” John Cleese ========================================================== 4. It's a Wacky, Wacky World Mitsubishi Motors sponsored a poll searching for the wackiest street names in the United States. The winners included: Psycho Path, Constipation Ridge, Divorce Court and Farfrompoopen Road! ======================================================== Copyright Michael Kerr, 2006 mailto:mike@mikekerr.com Reach Michael at 1-866-609-2640/http://www.MikeKerr.com.
